The Way of the Cross
No other symbol known to Man is as powerful as the Cross...and no other dichotmoy is as absolute...a symbol of torture and death also a symbol of Love and Glory!...except the dichotomy of the Creator of the Universe being born a helpless Babe! Such is the mystery of God's Love for us made manifest in His Son! The Cross became a powerful image to me as a very young child through the inspiration of a large needlework of Christ falling with the Cross made by my Grandmother. I was never privileged to meet her for she died when my Father was a young child; yet all through my young years I absorbed my Grandmother's Spirit in that work. The sense of uplift I felt standing before her masterpiece gave me a deep conviction very early in life that great Art is a visualization of the Spirit of God Within. My Grandmother had a great deal to do with my becoming an artist! By interweaving the symbolism of the Cross with my symbol for Being, I hope to express the way of the Cross...the way Christ's Love and Sacrifice for us have touched and influenced millions of lives and made them more "whole"! |
